Our 1st Kiss

The other day I was trying to organize the files on my computer to make more sense when I came across this journal entry that I never want forget. It is about Vance and mine's first kiss in the NICU. I wanted to blog it so I would have it in a book somewhere. Here it is: I just put a picture of Vance and Chad in the NICU as the computer wallpaper. It made me think of the first time I kissed Vance. We were still in the hospital and earlier that day the neonatalogist decided that Vance needed a blood transfusion and a PIC line. Needless to say I was very emotional that my little baby was going to need these procedures. The Waldron's had come to the hospital and since Chad had gone home for a minute to pick some things up, I had to take them to see Vance (you had to be with one of the parent's to see him). I was going to take Zach in first.

When we walked into the NICU the nurse was just about ready to attempt to enter the PIC line. Vance was covered with a blue sheet and looked completely lifeless and helpless due to all of the morphine he had been given. My heart immediately broke seeing him in such a vulnerable position. I started to cry and began to walk out, not wanting to see my baby like that, when the nurse said, “Mom, come here. I want you to tell your baby that you love him and give him a kiss.” As I bent down to whisper this to my baby, I was overcome with emotion. I told Vance exactly what the nurse had told me to: “I love you.” It was the first time that I had told Vance these words with a real compassion behind them. Then I bent down even further and kissed my baby boy on the forehead for the first time. He was 3 days old and that was our first kiss because of his medical condition.

I will never forget that moment. It is the first time I realized exactly how strong and immediate a mother's love is for her children. I felt so desperate to relieve my baby’s pain. I am crying now – three months later – because I am so thankful to have Vance healthy, happy, and cooing in the next room. He is a shining light in both mine and Chad’s life. I thank God everyday to have the opportunity to be a mother and pray for the strength and knowledge to be the best mother I can be. I hope to be half the parent that my parent's were to me. I hope to love my children unconditionally - no matter how hard it may be at times. I hope to teach them the things they need to survive in this world. I hope they learn the truth of the church and lean on Him whenever necessary. I hope Chad and I make a strong parenting team and always strive to present a united front to our children. I hope we can show by example to our children that marriage is sacred and wonderful. These and much more are the things I hope for. I love you baby Vance and know I am always doing my best!

#%&*#Craziness*$#%^($

My life is crazy right now! Between trying to pack, finishing up work, planning enrichment, etc, I feel like I have no free time. I am pretty sure I am having blogging withdrawals. Isn't it pathetic that I actually stress out about being behind with my blog? I have so many things I want to blog about - mainly GRADUATION! More about the celebration to come but it was a fantastic day and it feels great to be a graduate. Keep checking my blog because one day in the near future I will have a ton of new posts to read!

Also I am going to have to swallow my pride and admit I can't get all of the packing done by myself. I was planning on Chad being home, but he has filled his days with sidejobs right up until the day we leave so the packing is up to Vance and me. I can handle the packing, but I would SO appreciate anyone's help watching Vance. Even if it is just for a couple of hours it would be greatly appreciated. I just can't seem to get anything done when the little monkey is awake.

I've tried to spread the word but just in case you missed it or we missed you, we are having a going away party on Friday May 29th at 7:00 pm at my parent's house. Please leave a comment if you plan to attend - we'd love to see as many people as we can before we head out to Texas!

Playing Tourist

This last weekend Amy and David's family, my mom and dad, and Chad and I went down to the strip. Amy, David, and I all had the same great idea the same week, so we took it as a sign to get up off our butts and go do something! Our night started at the Bellagio atrium. This is my second favorite thing to see on the strip. I love how you are overwhelmed by the smell of flowers. This month's display was full of tulips which are one of my favorites. Vance thought all of the flower and butterflies were pretty cool. The problem was that he would have liked to be in the flowers instead of just looking at them. Chad kept putting his head in the trees though which seemed to satisfy him retardly enough! Once the kids were done looking at the flower we headed outside to the water show - my favorite thing on the strip! It took about five feet before Vance wanted out of his stroller and Brayden was tired of walking. They both found a place on their dad's heads and thought they were hilarious.

Everyone enjoyed the water show (who wouldn't)! Even Vance managed to sit still for a record time of 2 minutes! After the show we stood around for a little bit because the boys loved the water. The difference between Amy's boys and Vance? Vance would have jumped in if we gave him the chance and Amy's boys held on to the nearest adult scared of the possibility of falling in.
As we walked to the Flamingo to go see their animal exhibit we ran in to this guy dressed up as Captain Jack. The strip never fails to deliver! Just when you think you have seen it all down there, a drunken pirate heads your way! I guess it's one way to make a living. The Flamingo exhibit was not as cool as we had hoped but the boys seemed to find the disgustingly huge fish impressive. Once Vance and Colton lost interest, the fight over the blanket began. I don't know when I am going to learn my lesson to leave the blanket in the car when Colton's around. We decided to head back to the Bellagio. We caught another water show and then stopped and got a crepe. I have been wanting to try the crepes at the Bellagio because I have heard a lot of people say they like them. It was good, but I think mine are just as good! We got a nutella crepe and my mom and dad got some apple/pecan something. You can see by the picture below whose was better!
I had so much fun with Amy and David's boys. The closer we get to moving the more I feel like I have to take advantage of every moment together and make it special. There is definitely going to be a huge void in my life while we adjust to life away from everyone! Amy and David got these pictures and I have a feeling they are going to be some of my favorites for quite awhile.

It's here! It's here!

The Waldron Family BlogBook 2008 has arrived! This baby is truly a labor of love. I spent so much time on it and am so happy with the results. A few of the pictures are blurry because I ignored the warning sign that my resolution was too low, but besides that everything is perfect.

I'm pretty sure I won't be scrapbooking anymore. The book isn't as cute as a scrapbook, but I love how every page has a story. It has a lot more of "me" in it than my scrapbooks. If my posterity (whoa I sound old saying that word) ever wanted to know what I was like, it's basically all in my blogbook. Here are a few of my favorite pages!

Carleen's Bridal Shower

Carleen & Me

On May 2nd I helped throw my sister-in-law Carleen's bridal shower. It turned out really nice. We had flowers and pictures of the bride and groom-to-be everywhere. For food we kept it kind of simple and did a waffle bar. It was delicious! Congratulations Carleen - I can't wait for the big day!

Soccer Pictures

I was at my mom's house and saw these two pictures on her computer. I didn't have them anywhere so I threw them in a post so I can have them somewhere!

What a hot mess?!

Today Jennie invited us over for dinner and swimming.  She made DELICIOUS hamburgers and fries which Vance devoured.  After his food was gone, he turned to dipping his fingers in the ketchupbarbeque (yes, I intentionally typed it as one word) sauce. Gross!  Isn't he one adorable little mess?!
We didn't have time to go home and get swimsuits so Vance swam in his diaper.  Notice in the picture above his diaper drooping down to the ground.  I think it weighed 5 pounds when I finally took it down.
I love these pictures.  I know I am no professional, but I think every now and then I get a really cute shot.
Yet another view of the soggy diaper!

Yard Sale Anyone?

Chad and I have decided we definitely need to get rid of a few things before we move. What better way to do that than a good old-fashioned yard sale? I think the more stuff you have the more you sell so I wanted to open up our yard sale to everyone's stuff!

The sale is going to be May 30th so you still have plenty of time to go through all of your stuff and decide what it is time to part with. You can bring your stuff over to my house on Friday, May 29th. Our house will be empty except for the stuff we are selling so we'll have plenty of room for everything. You can just mark your stuff with a price and I will keep track of everyone's money and you can pick it up at the end of the day on Saturday. I plan of donating everything I don't sell. I can do the same with your stuff or you can pick it up and take it home.

I plan on listing the yard sale on craigslist to get a better response so if you have any big items you are getting rid of let me know. I will post a picture which will hopefully help those bigger items sell!

Depending on how many families decide to join in, I may need a few extra hands to get things organized, but I will let you know that later. For now just leave a comment and let me know if you are interested in selling any of your stuff!
