Camping at Mt Charleston

This last weekend Chad and I planned a camping trip up to Mt. Charleston. It was GREAT to get out of the heat. It was only like 75 degrees! Some family and friends came up to join in the fun too.

Unfortunately for Chad and I, Vance wasn't as good as I had hoped he would be. This is how he spent a fair portion of his time -
When he managed to stop crying, him and Colton were inseparable. While eating breakfast one morning, Vance took a break to wipe Colton's booger. He didn't seem to mind all the crap on his own face, but Colton's face was simply unacceptable.

Can't beat chocolate milk and donuts.

Vance would hang out with anyone who would let me. My dad and him are both morning people so Grandpa was nice enough to be his buddy in the morning and let mama get a few more zzz's.

This is Aunt Laurie minus her head...whoops! She helped the boys play a little t-ball.

Here she is head and all. She taught the boys how to skip through camp. Laurie and Laurie are the best. You can always count on them for a good time and lots of laughs.

Of course Grandma's lap was a coveted spot. Luckily there aren't three toddlers because everyone would need to have an extra leg and hand to be able to appease all of them.

Amy brought up her marshmallow guns. These are the best - good for kids and adults.

My dad was shooting the marshmallows into Vance and Colton's mouth. I think it's disgusting but apparently a little spit doesn't bother them.

I love these next pictures. Colton and Vance decided the best thing to do with the buns was hunt chipmunks. One went near the truck and they tried their best to find it.

We played lots of games and enjoyed the beautiful weather and scenery.

We had little helpers which were ever so helpful.

How many people does it take to start a fire? A lot!

Uncle Chad helped them split the wood to get some kindling. He's brave (or crazy) to let them hold an ax anywhere near his hands.

Vance was mesmerized by the whole thing. He just sat and watched everything taking place. I'm sure he'll be in the thick of it before we know it.

Grandma Sutton was freezing all weekend. Around the fire the rest of us where in a t-shirt and shorts. She had long sleeves, pants, a blanket, and a snuggie!

Vance loved the pine cones. I think this is my favorite picture of the weekend. Not the boogers and dirty face ;)

Not all of the kids had been on a snipe hunt before. It was a little too light outside, but they still had fun.

Uncle Chad chased one snipe all the way up this tree. Unfortunately it got away from him. If you look at the very top of the picture you see a little white spot - that's Chad. He literally climbed to the tip of this tree!

I had a great weekend. It's nice to get away from it all sometimes - no computer, no phone, no TV. I love it!

A Whole Lof of Random

This is a random post of things in my life right now!

Chad and I read this book and have been trying a few things out. It was interesting and very helpful to both of us to see how we could best show our love for the other person. My "love tank" is filling up more and more every day ;)
This blender is amazing. If you don't have a Magic Bullet - you need one! I love how you mix it in the cup, unscrew the lid, and drink away. Seriously cool!

Nothing beats a popsicle in the warm summer months. The favorites at our house our orange dream bars and fudgsicles.

Chad is determined to buy a boat. The other day we were with the Ogden's and Chad asked Jennie if she would sign the check over to him to start his "boat fund." The best part is the check was for 30 cents. Maybe we will be able to buy a row boat in 2050!

Chad never eats breakfast or lunch. I have been trying hard to be a better wife and make his lunches at night. The problem is he doesn't always take it. One morning I woke up to find this note on the fridge. Thanks honey for not wasting my time ;)

I love these new flower earrings I got. I bought the necklace awhile ago and have been eyeing the earrings ever since. Thanks honey for spoiling me!

Why do all little boys do this with their cars? They don't care if anything else in their life is organized but trucks. It's of the highest importance that trucks be lined up in a perfectly straight line. Not just trucks - cars, trains, etc.

Now it's time to go back to work :(

We had Amy's boys spend the night on Saturday so they went to church with us. How cute are they all ready to go?!

Fourliller

Vance has been obsessed with his "fourliller" lately. Everytime we walk through the garage he asks to ride it. I finally made a chart that he can fill up when he is good. The reward is a ride on the fourwheeler. He loves it and so do I!

A day of discovering

Amy invited Vance and I to go with her to the Lied Discovery Museum. We were there for 3 hours!!! Thank heavens I went with Amy because I never would have stayed that long if there wasn't another adult to visit with. The boys had a blast.

They pretended to go camping with the Bernstein Bears.

Put on a play as dinosaurs and turtles.

Made waterways for the duck to float down.

Fixed all the cars.

Experienced hurricane winds.

And much, MUCH more!

I think we might buy a family pass because Vance had such a good time so if you ever want to go with us, let me know.

You must be kidding

After mopping the kitchen and dining room literally 6 times (it was totally disgusting), I come back to the kitchen after putting the mop away to find this -

The floor was clean for just about 2 whole minutes. After ever so lovingly asking Vance what on earth he was doing (it may have been more like yelling), he decided the best course of action was to stomp on the cereal and smash it all to pieces.

Tell me this is a joke. Motherhood is truly a joy.

I have officially reached 500 posts! I think that makes me a blog-aholic. Here's to the next 500 ;)

Activity Pool

I bought passes to an activity pool right by our house. We have thoroughly enjoyed it. Vance and I go all the time by ourselves, but last Friday all my family came with us.
Vance has finally decided he likes to go down the slide as long as some one is waiting for him at the bottom.
My mom and Amy just relaxing for a little bit. This is usually where I spend about half of my time. I try to take a book and half read-half watch Vance. He knows his limits as this pool so I don't have to worry too much. I spend a good portion splashing in the water too - I don't like to miss all the action ;)

This is where Leslie spent the first little while. Yep she's sitting on the phone. How lame right? She redeemed herself though and came and played with us for a long time.
