The boys were a little bored one week so we headed to Lowes and everyone got a project. I haven't been using my big camera very often so I decided while they worked I would snap pictures. Sorry not sorry for the photo overload :)
I was actually pretty impressed with Sutton's ability to follow the directions and hammer in the nails.
I tried my best to let him do his thing and wait until he asked for my help to jump in.
Keller did his project entirely by himself. He did have to take a few pieces off and try again but he did great.
I snapped a picture of his face when he nailed in his last piece. He was so proud of himself!
Vance had a more advanced project in mind. It will take him awhile to complete but he is excited.
Chad talked him through setting up the saw, measuring his cuts, and safety precautions. It was so cute to watch them together. They have no idea how lucky they are to have such an amazing dad!
After a few practice cuts, Chad went back inside and Vance went to work.
I recently read a parenting book called "How to Raise an Adult." It's all about following your kids lead on what interests them. It's about taking off the pressure and how it's better for them to imperfectly complete a task on their own than to have you micromanage it to perfection. I already do some of these things, but this project is also for me to better exercise the skill of stepping back.
I love watching my boys grow!
