Cheap Satisfaction

I think the fact that Keller can be a handful is well established.  Let's just say when we go run errands he reminds of that almost every time.  I had 30 minutes before I needed to pick Vance up and decided that I was going to go browsing at Home Goods.

I got Keller an Icee and put him in the shopping cart.  It did the trick!

I had 30 peaceful minutes of shopping for home decorations.

It was heavenly.  Pure shopping bliss!

Holding Hands

Vance and Colton have taken to holding hands when they are together.  If they aren't holding hands they are constantly touching each other.  It's the kind of thing that makes me claustrophobic so I'm glad Vance found someone who doesn't mind.  During the school year they don't get to spend as much time together as they would like so watching them this summer has been so fun.  It's like they are so excited to be with one another they can't help but cuddle!  They have been spending LOTS of time together lately - one week we had three sleepovers.

I'm sure they will outgrow the hand holding soon, but for now I think it's precious :)

White Trash Peek-a-boo

We were getting packed for a camping trip when Keller discovered the collapsible trash can.  It made the perfect hiding spot for him.  He would just sit in there and every once in awhile he would pull it down and shout "PEEK-A-BOO"

He also plays a similar game in our orange buckets.

Discovery Museum

Amy bought season passes to the Discovery Children's Museum which means we have been able to tag along a few times.  Thanks Amy!

Keller loves the water tables.  He somberly plays with the cups and balls.

Vance has so much fun just running around with Colton everywhere.

We've gone back a few times and the kids don't seem to get sick of it.

Phone Dump

I always forget to go back and upload the pictures from my phone.  Here's the random things we've been up to lately.

Uncle Rob was in town for the weekend and was able to catch one of Vance's soccer games.
We went to cheer on Grandma and Grandpa at the Tour de Summerlin.  I love my active parents.
Happily learning handyman skills from Daddy at home.
Dip n dots with all of the cousins at Wet n Wild!  Thanks Grandma :)
We just happened to stumble upon the Sam's Club National BBQ Tour - Chad was in HEAVEN! I equate this to me shopping at Dillard's clearance event.  Men and women really are from two different planets.  As we pulled up he nicely warned me, "Don't rush me.  We will be walking down every aisle.  We might be here awhile.  I don't want to hurry!"
Keller played so hard he passed out while Briton was babysitting.
Giving Jake doggie loves at the Sutton family reunion.
Playing with Vance in the ottoman - not exactly sure why!
Date night at a delicious Greek restaurant off Lake Mead and the 95 - Market Grille.
Having fun hanging out in the frontyard with Mommy.
Trying on insane amount of clothes at Ross while the boys were at the father and sons campout.
Blowing bubbles in the backyard.
Ran into the Pinball Hall of Fame to play a few games one afternoon
Had a little too much fun and ended up with a double timeout on the couch
Played with the teacup dished in the kitchen sink and made a huge water mess
Put Daddy to sleep
Had fun at the end of season soccer party at Pump It Up
Lots of trips to Wet n Wild.  We got season passes.  I need to take my camera one day and take a few pictures.  We have gone at least one a week since it opened and are having a blast.

Toehead

I always look at little kids with REALLY blonde hair and think "I wish I had kids with hair like that..."

Keller
Vance

Maybe I should get my vision checked because I'm pretty sure I have kids with hair like that.

Ready for Kindergarten

Vance is headed to full day kindergarten this fall.  That means time to get current on all of his shots.  I normally don't take pictures at the doctor but I figured this wasn't just any ordinary doctor's visit :)

Four shots = no tears = definitely ready for kindergarten!

Vance's 1st Triathlon

Vance and Colton participated in their very first triathlon.  It was quite possible one of the cutest things I've ever seen.  They had to swim 50 yards, bike 2 miles, and run 1/2 mile.  Vance finished 28:03 which means he was 8th out of 14 in his division.  Considering he had to be one of the youngest ones I think he did awesome.  Heck I think he is awesome just for doing it!

I made the boys some posters.  I got skills. I mean seriously...
This triathlon is just like one for adults, complete with body markings and timing chips.
I was most nervous about the swim so when they headed into the pool area to wait their turn I started feeling slightly anxious.  I wasn't sure if he could swim the whole thing...
Colton went first -
Vance was only about one minute behind him.  He made quite the entrance into the pool.  haha
We talked to him A LOT about rolling over and floating on his back whenever he felt tired.  He took our advice and rolled over...lots :)
I managed to get one picture of the cousins swimming next to each other.  It was pure luck that they ended up in those lanes, but I appreciated it.

Here you can see Vance's awesome freestyle form: head down, big arms by your ears, and big kickers :)
Then more back floats...that boy can float!
Once they finished the swim they hurried to the transition area.  No parents were allowed in the transition area but they had plenty of people inside to help them tie their shoes and get their helmets on.
Then they headed off for the biking portion.  I love Vance's face in the middle picture.  He was SO into it!
Lap one -
 Colton on the bike -
After two miles on the bike, headed into the transition area again-
He isn't much of a runner, but you wouldn't know that judging by the intensity of his entire body and face in the left picture.  He ran his little heart out!
I put my camera down right before the finish line and I missed a priceless moment.  Luckily the camera crew caught it (I'm just too cheap to pay $10 for one digital picture so here's my picture of a picture).  Vance gave a big fist pump and a jump over the finish line!  Then he tripped and fell to the ground - just like something in a movie.  He hopped right up like nothing happened but I was cracking up.  It was like his little body couldn't contain all of the excitement he was feeling.
Vance showing off his first triathlon medal-
Then he hurried back to the running course just in time to cheer on Colton as he turned the corner for the finish line.
Best buddies!!!
After the race was over Vance drank lots of water and cooled off.  He gets a red face just like Mommy.
Keller was excited to give big brother a congratulatory hug :)
I think maybe he just wanted his own medal -
After everyone finished they gathered all the participants who were still there for a group picture.  Our two monkeys are front and center.  There were 350 kids in the Diamond Kid Triathlon.
Of course I was proud of all of the kids, but one triathlete had me beaming with pride :)
