Mom Fun Days

Every year the boys get to skip school two days (one per semester).  During the first semester they just chill at home and to be honest play too many electronic and watch too much TV.  During the second semester they get a "Mom-Fun-Day."  

This spring has been a little hectic so "Mom-Fun-Days" weren't quite as fun-filled as usual but the boys still had fun.

Sutton was the first to use his special day.  He naturally wanted to start the day with a trip to his favorite donut store.

Then we went to Target and I bought him a big monster truck too.  I almost never buy them toys when it's not their birthday or Christmas so he was STOKED.

He spent the rest of the afternoon playing with his new toy, playing video games, and chatting with me.

Vance was next up to use his day off of school.  I have a feeling that the older the boys get the days home will begin with a little extra sleep.

His lunch request was Freddy's.

Since he used his day off when Uncle Zach was in town we took a trip to Bucees.  It's an enormous gas station which sounds lame but it is a must-see.  

Then we finished the afternoon with a few round of Catan ;)

Keller was the last to use his "Mom Fun Day."  He knew the Mathewsons would be coming and wanted to use it before they enrolled in school. He had a great day playing with his cousins.

Just the two of us went to Walmart and picked him out a new Lego set and had lunch.  He immediately came home and spent the rest of the evening putting it together.

Love you boys and so glad we could spend a day together! 

This & That

 I hosted book club in February.  We read one of my favorite self-help books about intentional living.  I had fun putting together a little gift for everyone to take home as well as planning out the food.

Keller has been taking hitting lessons for baseball.  He thought it was pretty hysterical when his coach had him bat with a ball in between his legs.  His coach is great and he is making some real improvement.

Vance had a volleyball tournament with no spectator limits.  We jumped at the opportunity to have the family come cheer him on.  He played great and it was fun to have so many cheerleaders.

Chad has been wanting a paddleboard.  He finally found one he liked and bought two of them.  He was so excited he came home and immediately blew one up to try in the pool.  I think we are going to love taking these to the lake and the beach this summer!

I asked Vance to put dinner in the oven.  I specifically asked him to closely read the directions.  A little while later I smelled something funny and immediately knew what happened.  Removing the dinner from the plastic packaging was definitely the second sentence in the directions.  We had a good laugh and I think (hopefully) Vance learned the importance of actually reading the cooking directions.

We have been busy so when a free weekend night occurred we changed into our comfy clothes and enjoyed a yummy meat and cheese board with a glass of wine.  It was perfection!

Keller has officially started his braces treatment.  He got a couple of baby teeth pulled and an expander put in.  Luckily for us we got the stimulus just in time to pay for everything.

Sutton has been my little kitchen helper.  He is learning how to use the can opener, peel a cucumber, cut up fruit, etc.  Way to go bud!

Chad and I were able to sneak in some glorious tanning time on a sunny, school day.  Chad works from home on Friday so we always try to do a little something with just the two of us.  Sometimes we play tennis or go to lunch or whatever.  This however was the best!

The boys have decided it is time to start swimming  The water is still way too cold for me but they love it and it makes me hungry for summer!

Chad and I had a fun night with some of our friends.  We have the best friends!

I think it just about the cutest thing on earth when Sutton falls asleep with the dogs.  I love how they have their paws on him.

Keller had his first baseball game of the season.  The highlight of his game was hitting a double when bases were loaded and resulted in 3 RBIs.  He got on the base every at-bat and played his first game as catcher.  It was such a fun night and ended with him and his bestie receiving game balls for their efforts!

Sutton finished his deck hockey season. I think it may be his favorite activity he has participated in.  He loved hockey with Daddy!

 I have missed crafting lately so I got out stuff to make a few shirts and cups.  

Chad is pretty obsessed with his new Dodgers cup!

The Mathewsons moved to Texas.  In fact they moved into the house next door.  We found some giant unicorns at a garage sale a few weeks ago and decided they'd make the perfect welcoming committee.  The boys are beyond thrilled to have cousins so close!

The neighbors had a big inflatable slide in their backyard.  The boys played on it for hours and hours.  We have the best neighbors!

One of our good friends turned 30 and celebrated with a suite at the Rangers game.  It was a fun night with some of our favorite people!  Landon is super competitive so Chad and I thought it would be funny to make a shirt for the occasion with a little Landon-quote.
