Keller is always silly. ALWAYS! I have a love/hate relationship with his silliness. When I need him to focus it can make me want to pull my hair out. Then other times his silliness lights up my day. I love you silly boy!

Vance @ 8
Vance is 8! I can't believe it. I think I say that every time my kids have a birthday but I really do think it. Here are my ramblings about Vance at 8 -
Vance is sweet. He was just born that way. The way he cares about others is so special. I wish that I could say I had a part in that, but it is just natural for him. He is sweet in actions and words. He will help hold the door open when my hands are full or play with his brothers exactly on their level. He longs to serve others and has a giving heart. I pray he keeps that.
Vance is a talker. He can talk and talk and talk. He can carry on a conversation with just about anyone. It's not just that he likes to talk but he talks like an adult. During a quiet supper, he'll ask Chad "How is work going Dad? Any big deadlines?" He'll talk to my mom about her new house and any upcoming projects. He'll talk to Keller about their favorite toys. Anyone that meets him will usually tell me about how friendly and talkative he is. Sometimes I have to tell him I am done talking. I know that's horrible but every once in awhile I just need less talking!
Vance has really found a love for soccer this past year. His skills are improving and I love watching him play. He wants a soccer themed bedroom, to play soccer in the backyard
Vance loves God. He is such a good example to me. His prayers are so sweet. His school has a club called Kids for Christ one morning before school. He was so excited to join. I hope his testimony and faith continue to grow.
Vance is an awesome brother. He knows just how to play on Keller and Sutton's level. I can already tell they both look up to him so much. I think Vance is Sutton's 2nd favorite person (behind me of course!). Keller is interested in everything Vance likes. It's so fun to watch them all play outside together.
Vance loves Chad. He wants to be with, be like him, etc. In Vance's eyes, no one is better than Chad. I am so grateful he has such an amazing daddy as a role model. They talk video games and sports together. They wrestle and get a little crazy sometimes.
Vance likes new things. I'm grateful for that because it has made the transition to Texas easy for him. He is excited to experience all the new things and is never afraid to put himself out there.
Vance hates piano lessons. He doesn't mind piano, but boy does he hate lesson day. He is a perfectionist and is afraid to try things he won't be perfect at sometimes. If he thinks the new song I give him during a lesson is too hard he has a COMPLETE meltdown (screaming, pounding on the piano, throwing things, etc.). It is bad!!! Vance is a such a smart boy that most things come easy for him. Because piano is the one thing that really challenges him to do something that doesn't always come easy, I refuse to let him quit. He is learning more than just piano. He is learning he is capable of hard things and I want him to know that! The funny thing is he is actually an excellent piano player for his age. He can play a song perfect in just 10 minutes of actually trying. I don't know why he gets so worked up about it.
Vance is driven and loves to plan like me and a little scatter-brained and all over the place like Chad (this isn't being rude. It is a fact. If you know Chad at all you have seen him lose his keys multiple times or put the TV remote in the fridge). Vance is this weird blend of all over a task yet a bit of a mess while doing it. It absolutely cracks me up to see him have such opposing traits.
Vance, like many boys I think, loves a hands-on project. He doesn't mind mowing the lawn, putting together a piece of furniture, working on the car. In fact, he loves it!
Vance loves electronics. His iPad is usually his device of choice but he also likes to play the PS3, mainly Madden16. He wanted me to play against him the other day. That game is hard! I was seriously awful at it.

Happy Birthday Vance!
Vance turned 8!!! The morning of his birthday I had the chalkboard out and some balloons.
I found this new restaurant called Crumbzz and I totally love it. Vance asked if I would take him there for his birthday. Absolutely! I love that he ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes. He is a boy who appreciates good food!
Of course we had to split a piece of the most delicious crumb cake ever ;)
I gave him two choices for how he wanted to celebrate his birthday: have a party with friends or go to Monster Jam with the family. He chose Monster Jam and I was relieved to not have to plan a party ;)
I was able to score free pit party passes and 2-for-1 tickets!!! I was excited because then the Ogdens and my parents were able to come with us. The event was on his actual birthday so he felt pretty special.
Boys (young and old) love monster trucks. I have to be honest...I don't really get it. BUT - they love it!
My mom and Jennie didn't get it either. We were all happy to be along for the ride though! My dad raised us to hang with the boys since he didn't have sons. We don't always understand it but we are usually good to go anyway.

We went down to the pit area for about 1.5 hours.
Keller's favorite part was this big dirt mound with toy monster trucks to play with. I told Chad apparently we need to add a dirt mound in our backyard.

Vance was pretty excited to get some of the driver's signatures. He especially loves Max-D and was stoked to meet him.
Keller played a little monster truck corn hole.
I was worried Sutton was going to be awful but he was much better than I expected. He even managed to fall asleep for a little while.
Aunt Jennie promised Vance he could share nachos with Vance during the show. Vance loved them!
When Sutton woke up, he just stared at the trucks in awe.

We had a little get together at the Ogdens and Vance opened his presents.
Vance requested Legos and more Legos for his gifts. That is exactly what he got and he was thrilled!
He also requested a chocolate/vanilla/strawberry cake. Luckily for me the grocery store sold just exactly that.

Driveway Fun
We seriously love our new house. The boys love to play in the frontyard and backyard. However, I didn't anticipate them loving playing on the driveway. We have a really long driveway and the boys play and play and play on it. At our old house the boys could never go out front without me because there was too much traffic. It is so nice to know they can play on our driveway and it is okay if I am not out there every single second.

They all pile into their Power Wheels. I love watching them do this altogether ;)
We play with our Tonka trucks. These are a MUST for all boys in my opinion. Our trucks are like 8 years old and still get played with all the time. They are super sturdy which is a must for my crazy boys!
Sutton loves to crawl in the buggy and pretend to drive. He isn't too graceful though and sorta nose dives in and out of it. He doesn't seem to mind. Driving is serious business to him. His face in this picture cracks me up -
We also have a basketball hoop and street hockey gear that gets lots of use on the driveway. This house is perfect for our family!
