Monster Jam

We took the boys to Monster Jam.  I don't think I will ever quite understand the obsession about big trucks and loud motors but my fellas love it.  Sutton is in the middle of a monster truck phase so he was especially excited to go.  

We gave Grandpa a ticket for his birthday because he loves it just as much as my boys.  He was pretty excited to come with!

We bought the pit pass so you could go down and see the trucks and drivers before the show.  It was a little different with social distancing but it was still fun.  The boys' favorite driver was Monster Energy because he said he would do a backflip.  The entire night Sutton would tell me, "Mom Monster Energy is going to do a backflip.  He promised me."  

I just love getting to make memories as a family.  It was such a great night!  The boys excitedly pointed to something and told me and/or Chad all about it.  Being a parent is so magical sometimes!

Of course they boys needed some new monster truck toys.  They each picked out a few things you can never find at the store and were thrilled with their haul.

You can always, ALWAYS count on Grandpa for snacks.  Everyone scarfed the nachos ;)

Sutton was awestruck when it was finally time for the monster trucks to make their big entrance.  It was priceless and so adorable.

All of the boys cheered on their favorite trucks throughout the night and appropriately fist pumped after an exceptionally cool trick or crash.

It was a great night and I am glad the boys loved it!

Deck Hockey

 This spring Forney offered deck hockey for the first time.  The city got a sponsor so it made it super affordable.  Registration was only $70 and it included a stick, shin guards, elbow pads, gloves, and a helmet.  Chad and the boys were all over it.  Unfortunately Vance was too old to play but Chad coached both Keller and Sutton's teams.

It was such a great season.  There was no pressure and it was all just for fun.  The boys learned tons and showed so much improvement by the end of the season.  Deck hockey is endless running.  They learned when to hold back and when to sprint.  Their soccer skills translated into hockey skills and both Keller and Sutton scored lots of goals for their teams.

It was so fun to watch Chad coach them.  Tuesdays (deck hockey practice day) quickly became Keller and Sutton's favorite day of the week.  

Way to go on a great season boys!

Spring Break

We had a fabulous spring break!  It was windy but besides that the weather was great.  We spent lots of time outside which is always a win in my book.

One afternoon we played some backyard baseball.  I fall a little more in love with Chad every time I watch him pitch a ball to the boys in our backyard.  I don't know what it is exactly about this moment but I'm flooded with this intense gratitude for the life we have built together almost every time.  Life is crazy most of the time but everyone once in awhile it feels surreal and I cannot believe how lucky I am to be married to such an awesome man, that we have three crazy/fun boys, and that we have such an incredible home/backyard.  Maybe something about baseball feeling so "American" and this is our American dream.  

Okay I got a little distracted...back to spring break - 

In preparation for spring break we washed the patio cushions and wiped down all the furniture.  Our patio is everyone's happy place.

The boys thought it would be fun to set up the tent in the backyard.  They took in chairs, air mattresses, and even a TV.

Vance is doing track at school.  His coach gave him some workouts to do over spring break.  Everyday we headed to the school so he could do his workout.  Sometimes the little boys would join him as he ran around the track.  It was so cute!

My mom had a few crafts for the kiddos.  One was candy necklaces and the other was candy wafer birdhouses.  Grandmas are the best!

Vance attempted to wipe off the dust on his rollerblades.  He is hilariously awkward when he rollerblades but I love his determination.

Vance had a volleyball lesson at the sand court so we all decided to go enjoy the fresh air.  The little boys had fun chasing after the balls and playing with the monster trucks in the sand.

Sutton loves a hot breakfast so I made the boys chocolate chip pancakes.  They were a hit!

One afternoon we went to glow mini golf.  We definitely need to work on our putting skills but we had fun!

Vance was sad when I beat him by three strokes.  I was feeling pretty good though!

The boys played a few arcades and then we headed to lunch at Babes Chicken Dinner House. It is the epitome of southern comfort food.  The boys loved it!

On Friday of spring break, it was Chad's birthday.  We headed to Mod Pizza for a family lunch.  Everyone had fun customizing their pizza.  For his birthday the boys made cards, and I gave him a new pair of flip flops and a subscription to MasterClass.

That night we met up with some of our favorite people for dinner and pickleball at Standard Service.  The weather was gorgeous and we had fun laughing the night away.

Saturday we had a sports-filled day with deck hockey, soccer, and baseball.  Then unfortunately it was time to clean the house, grocery shop, and get ready to head back to school.

Now we begin the countdown to summer!
