Keller-Antics

I took Keller to the doctor for a well-check. She asked him to draw a picture of his family.  He drew himself, Vance, and me. Then he had this conversation with her.

Keller: That's my brother and me and that's my mom being mean. She's telling me to go to my room.

Doctor: What's that called? Is that timeout?

Keller: NO! That's called it's-not-fair!

Keller was obsessed with spaghetti and meatballs for like a month.  Every time I would ask him what he wanted for breakfast or a snack or dinner, he asked for spaghetti and meatballs. He was thrilled when we finally had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.

I took Keller on a Mommy/Keller date one night.  He was very excited.  He asked, "Are we going on a date because we love each other?" Then later he would randomly excited, "It's love day!"  Then in the middle of our date he said, "Don't forget to go to the garden for pretty flowers for your. Like 18 of them or something!"  Sweet boy wanted to give me flowers ;)  Date nights are the best!

Keller really wants Sutton to walk.  He is not impressed with sitting and crawling.  He asked me, "When are we going to have a stand-up baby? I don't want a sitting baby anymore!"

Keller isn't allowed to have nut products in his lunch at school.  One day I wasn't thinking and packed one small Reese's as his treat.  When the teacher asked him what it was, he didn't reply.  He shoved it in his month and immediately ate it!  Hahaha. He didn't say a word.  Don't miss with a boy and his Reese's.

Randomly Keller told me he liked to spend time with me.  When I asked him what his favorite thing to do with me is, he answered, "My favorite thing is to hang with you and play a game that is sweet and smooth."  Where on earth did he come up with that?!

Keller went out to jump on the trampoline and came in screaming bloody murder yelling there was a snake in the backyard. I didn't believe him at first. He was right. SOOO GROSS!!!!!!!  Keller later said, "Mom I just guess I am not brave. I don't like that snake. I am not having a pet snake!"

Keller is obsessed with hoodies.  He wears them all. the. time.  It doesn't matter what the temperature is outside.  He will be sweating and still refuses to wear anything else.  As fellow hoodie-lovers, Chad and I respect the passion but he takes it to another level.

One day Keller came in the kitchen with a decoration in his hand. He declared, "This fell off the wall Mommy!" When I asked how he replied, "Well, I took it off." I guess I appreciate the honesty.

One day when my mom was babysitting, Keller kept trying to put a pen in his front pocket.  When he finally got it in he said, "That's right. Just like a daddy." I think someone has picked up on Daddy's habit of coming home from work with a pen in his pocket. So cute!

Keller: Mom you're so cute! Can I play iPad?
Me: Thanks!
Keller: That's what you do. You just say something nice and then you get what you want.
I have a feeling I may have fallen victim to his schemes before :(

I think it may be Keller's goal to pee on the side of every single road in the state of Texas.  It is always an "emergency" so we pull over. I'm sure it's mostly a game but the few times I have told him he can wait until we get to our destination he pees his pants.  The other day I happened to have my nice camera in the car and captured this little gem of him caught in the act.

On a side note - Keller has learned 100 sight words. We're so proud of him and the progress he has made in reading. He is one smart boy!!!

Sutton @ 18 Months

The time seems to fly by with Sutton!!!  I can't believe he is already 18 months. It really seems like all of the sudden he is a toddler and no longer a baby.  Here are a few random facts about Sutton right now -

Started walking at almost exactly 16 months...finally! It was awkward for quite awhile but now he is walking so fast it almost looks like running. He prefers to walk on his own as much as possible.

Got his 3rd tooth at 16 months. That was quickly followed by four more and seems like more are on the way. He is definitely my grumpiest teether!!! You may have noticed his new necklace in some pictures. It is an amber necklace and is supposed to have some healing powers. So many of my friends swear it helped their teething babies I figured it couldn't hurt!

Sutton has definitely made it the mess-making stage. You better keep an eye on him because if you don't, you will most likely have a large mess to clean up. Usually I keep close tabs on him so it's not a big deal. However one morning the older two boys were supposed to be watching him for 10 minutes so I could get ready. I came into the kitchen when I was done to find 18 eggshells finely smashed all over my kitchen floor.  Lovely babysitting job boys!

Says: Mama, Dada, Uh-oh, Whoa. He is NOT a big talker with words but definitely thinks we can understand him. He is constantly looking in our eyes, pointing, and making all kinds of sounds. It's actually pretty adorable until it turns into screaming because we can't understand him.

Love to play with fake phones, balls, and brooms. He is easy to please!

Sutton is happiest outside. He loves, loves, LOVES to be outside! He will throw balls and fetch them, play t-ball, play with cars, mow the grass with Daddy, swim with his brothers, just sit down and chill, etc. I think you get the idea...he just loves all things outdoors. Even if it walking around with a helmet on. Haha

He can be a handful running errands.  Sometimes I give him a treat to occupy him. Don't judge! Well one day I gave him a hash brown from McDonalds but didn't take the paper off.  He definitely ate some of it before I noticed.  Whoopsie!

His favorite show is Curious George. He isn't a big TV watcher really but he will watch one episode of Curious George a day. Maybe that explains the way he talks? It is a bit monkey-ish.

Favorite food is eggs. He also likes blueberry waffles and chicken. Besides that he is actually pretty picky. I can never decide what he is going to eat on any given day. However if I happen to guess correctly, that boy can EAT! I'm talking like 3 eggs and two waffles for breakfast eat. The hard part is guessing what he wants at any given meal. When he eats he will shove it all in there. I don't know how he manages to chew and swallow!

Thinks it is hilarious to count to three and fall down. Anytime someone starts counting to three slowly he gets so excited. He smiles the most adorable smile and gets ready to fall down or jump to you. It's definitely his favorite game.

Sutton throws his food and sippy cup when he is done. This one is obnoxious and I am beyond over it. My kitchen floor is always disgusting. We are working on it but not making much progress.

He likes to color. That means we have to be very aware of the location of all writing utensils: pencils, pens, markers, etc. On Daddy's watch he managed to find a permanent marker and color the back of an upholstered chair...grrr. Luckily (for Daddy) most of it came out. We've stored all writing utensils in a much higher place now ;)

Signs "more" and "all done."  We are trying to teach him "please" but so far making no progress.  Sutton only does things on his timetable.  I guess when he decides he is good and ready he will do it. Let's hope!

I don't know if I've ever written this down, but he LOVES when people whisper or sing in his ear, especially Mommy.  I do it all the time.  He just presses his head against my lips and listens. He listens and almost becomes hypnotized, not moving a muscle. I love that time together!

Sutton has started sleeping in a big boy bed! The transition actually went pretty smoothly. I can't help but take pictures him sleeping because I can't get over how big he seems all of the sudden.  Of course we have also found him sleeping on the floor a few times.

He loves when I sing a lullaby and tickle his face for a few minutes each time I put him down to sleep. I didn't really do this as consistently with my other boys but I sure wish I would've. It is some of my most cherished time with Sutton. He just stares into my eyes and I can see how I am almost instantly relaxing him. I also feel like he can feel how safe he is with me around. I know it seems corny but I really love it and think he does too.

We love Sutton even though he can be absolutely exhausting some days. One of his precious giggles and you forget all the bad stuff ;)  Love you Sutton-baby!

Mesquite Rodeo

We have been wanting to go to the Mesquite Rodeo. We finally found a good day and made it happen. They boys were so excited and couldn't wait to put their best cowboy gear on. How adorable are my three little cowboys?!

 We got there early because they had some fun activities for the kids. They could ride ponies -

 The Ogdens joined us too. It was fun to have them there with us!

 

 When Jennie failed to rope the head after three tries, Chad was happy to show her how it's down in his first attempt.  He is seriously such a natural athlete.  Apparently that even extends to roping.

 The boys sat in awe the entire time. They thoroughly enjoyed it. 

 I was worried Sutton would be grumpy because it was a late night but he was happy to wander around a little and get passed from adult to adult. I think his favorite was Aunt Jennie's kisses ;)

 The kids had fun trying to pull a ribbon from a calf's tail to win a prize. They weren't the winners but had fun trying anyway ;)

 The grand finale was the bull riding. It was a great night and I'm sure we will be attending again!

My new cup

My friends have a side business. They powder coat Yeti cups. They made one for me and I absolutely love it!!! You can't really tell in the picture but it has sparkles. Pink and sparkly? Does it get any better?!

This & That

 Vance requested a date night with me. He enjoyed dinner but I think he had more fun paying the bill from the tablet at our table.

 Speaking of Vance, he would happily spend hours on end playing electronics. 

He likes the PS3, Wii, iPad, computer, phone...whatever! I am proud to say that I really feel like I've closely monitored his electronic usage this summer and he has finally started entertaining himself WITHOUT the whining that seemed never-ending at the beginning of summer.

A quick trip to the pet store never fails. Cheap entertainment at its finest!

 It's hard to think of ways to keep cool during the summer.  We've also had a few trips to the dreaded Chuck E Cheese.

 We have had so many swimming playdates I can't even keep track!

 I was looking for a location for a maternity shoot. How hilarious is my "pregnant" son?!

 My sister is turning 40 this week!!! I made her a cute little gift ;)

 Keller can't resist jumping on the big tires at the gym I go to.

 Sometimes Sutton is just happy to watch his brothers swim from the window ;)

 On Cow Appreciation Day you can dress up like a cow and get free Chick Fil A. The boys were thrilled ;)

 My boys, like the rest of the world, have been obsessed with Pokemon Go. I do NOT get it, but they love it!!!

 Chad and I had a much needed date night at The Rustic with a group of friends. We have the best group of friends!

 Chad tried on some of the shorter style swim trunks.  Keller thought it was hysterical!

 I have really missed playing tennis lately. I finally got back out there with my mama. It was a blast!

 Chad has been playing on a softball team with some guys from church. They ended second in the league. It was fun for all of us!

 Chad helped the boys build some Lowes projects in the garage.
