Broken Bow

Chad usually can't go out of town around Labor Day because it's a busy time for work.  This is the first time since he has worked in accounting that we could all go out of town together over Labor Day and it was fantastic!  We planned a quick trip up to Broken Bow in Oklahoma.
We thoroughly enjoyed nature and each other's company.
The water was COLD!

My parents and the Ogdens came with us.  We all had a great time!

I love this picture of Vance trying to convince Keller and Sutton to swim across the river to jump off cliffs.  You can tell they weren't too sure but eventually he talked them into it.

Vance has always been adventurous but it isn't as easy for the younger two.  I am proud of Keller and Sutton for being so brave!

Keller was worried about swimming across the river because there was a slight current.  It was precious to watch Vance explain to him how to swim at  diagonal and reassure Keller that he could do it.  He never left Keller's side and I just watched from a distance.  Keller eventually swam across and Vance promptly cheered him on in a proud, big brother kinda way.
Grandma on the other hand felt much more comfortable walking with Sutton and keeping him out of the water ;)

The boys found a perfect spot to swim and caught a few during our stay.

Once Chad was done fishing the boys went back to cliff jumping.

Keller isn't too interested in fishing.  Instead he made himself an arrowhead.  He hammered and sanded the rock down until he had made himself a pretty impressive arrowhead.  When we got home we spray painted it silver and he made a spear.  It's actually pretty awesome and I really need to take a picture.

My boys are the cutest!

I never caught anything but I fished for a bit too.  Chad snapped a rare picture with me in it ;)

Once Sutton tired of swimming, we worked together to stack rocks.  We built it up fairly high before he decided to start fishing again.

The highlight of the trip was renting a paddle boat, paddle boards, canoe, and kayaks.  Everyone took a turn with the different things and we casually travelled down the river.  The water was cool and refreshing but definitely chilly at first.

Chad and the boys are now begging to buy paddle boards.  I think we will purchasing some soon...

Jennie got all of us started on paddle board yoga.  We had fun laughing at ourselves and I'm sure we entertained a few onlookers too. Haha!

Isn't it just so pretty?!

My mom gets really anxious about water.  She always has but it has gotten a little more intense lately.  I was cracking up that she had a life jacket on.  The water was so shallow you could touch most of the time and there was barely any current at all. She is a goof but we love her!

Robert and I were excellent kayakers.  We made a course and navigated it just about perfect.  We will be ready for the next summer Olympics. ;)

It was a perfect technology-free weekend.  I love to unplug and spend quality time with the people I love most.

Until next time Broken Bow!
