For the first half of Spring Break we headed to Cedar Hill State Park to camp. It was our first trip using our new tent! The weather was absolutely beautiful and it was a much needed break from our normal routine.
For the first few days we were joined by the Ogdens and Grandpa and Grandma Sutton. We had a blast!
Rob recently bought a 20-game ticket page to the Rangers games so the boys were reviewing his game selection. It was a very intense conversation and Rob would not let it go. I think he is a little excited and I know a few boys who are hoping they get to go to a few games themselves.
We used to play Mexican Train a lot but rarely play it now. I don't even know if I have ever played the full game but maybe one or two times. This weekend we did! It made me think of my Grandma Sutton so much because this is a game she enjoyed playing camping. I miss her so much!
My mom was a Rockstar and brought way too much food. I definitely did not and was more than happy to say yes when she offered us some. Grandmas are the best!
My mom bought herself a selfie stick...heaven help us...
The boys brought a few activities and they thought it was pretty awesome to work on them inside our tent.
Perhaps the best part of the campground was the centrally located playground. The boys (especially Sutton) lived there the duration of our stay. It was nice because it gave the kids a place to meet up and then it didn't feel like you were awkwardly introducing yourself to someone at their campsite.
My sisters and mom are besties...I just wish Leslie and Amy would've been there too!
We played lots of Kanjam, soccer, catch, ladder ball, etc.
The dogs got lots of love, but Uncle Rob wouldn't pet them no matter how sweet and obedient they were.
Mexican train was a weekend affair...unfortunately Rob eventually beat us all.
The part of camping is always the relaxing. The boys read, relaxed in the hammock, and just chilled.
My favorite part of my mom's selfie stick is when she used it and wasn't in the pictures. LOL! She is starting to show her age...

Vance got a tick in his ear! Luckily Chad was able to carefully remove it (pincers and all) but I was definitely grossed out.
Sunday night everyone else went home and it was just my little family. While I enjoyed the group it was also nice to have an even slower pace with the five of us.
Sutton was in heaven. He rocked his backwards hat, the same hoodie for three days, and all of his joggers eventually had grass stains. He was living his best life!
One morning it sprinkled a little so the boys and me (mostly me) worked on a puzzle. When the sun came out we headed back outside and played even more board games.
The boys love Catch Phrase and are getting pretty good. I'm especially impressed with how Sutton can describe the words.
Of course we had to roast marshmallows!
We rented the Explorer backpack from the ranger station and the boys earned the Junior Ranger badge.
We also did some geocaching. We haven't done that in forever and they had fun using the binoculars and magnifying glass from the Explorer Pack.
Even though Chad and to travel back and forth to work a few days, I think it was the perfect way to kick off Spring Break. This may have to be an annual camping trip!
