Basketball

Keller is getting to that age where unfortunately it gets hard to try new sports. We encouraged him to try a few sports besides baseball just to be sure that baseball is really his love.  He is trying basketball and another season of soccer this spring.  I'm always proud of him for trying things out of his comfort zone because that is really a hard thing for him.  He made so much progress in basketball and his last game of the season was his highest scoring game!

 Chad was the assistant coach and Keller loved it.

 Keller really did great on defense.  He covered his man and forced lots of turnovers.

 It took him a minute to comfortable being aggressive on offense but he found his groove as the season went on.  He was great at looking for a teammate to pass to and made his fair share of baskets too.

 I love how intently he is focused on the hoop.  He made the shot in case you were wondering :)

 Keller is quick and I was always impressed with how he could turn on another gear and catch a player on the breakaway.

 Way to go Keller!!!

While he enjoyed basketball, he has decided that it is definitely not his thing and baseball is indeed his favorite!

Happy Valentine's Day

First up for Valentine's Day preparation was getting the class cards together.  I designed a soccer card for Sutton and a baseball card for Keller.  They wrote their names on them and helped me staple them to the treats.

 Sutton's class was decorating boxes at school and Vance's school doesn't do holiday parties anymore so we just had one box to decorate.  Of course Keller wanted a baseball themed box.  He put the legos together and I helped him spray paint the box and put his name on it.

 While we were making the final touches he said, "Wow Mom this is our best box yet.  Usually we just take a cereal box and tape a couple of coloring pages to it!"  I have to admit that this is by far the best box we have ever made.  Sorry Vance!

My mom had us over for a love themed dinner.  She's the best!

 Sutton had the cutest love notes on everyone's plates.

Next up was the class parties.  Sutton was thrilled about all of his valentines and was excited to have me there for the party.

I was in charge of Keller's class party.  We had a sundae bar and all of the kids loved it, especially my ice-cream-loving son! Sutton loved getting to hang out with his brother at school.

Chad and I don't do big gifts or anything for Valentine's.  For the kiddos we gave them some chips, a rootbeer, and a gift card.  They were stoked since I very rarely buy chips!

Life has been stressful so I asked Chad if we could please not do anything for each other.  Of course he was heartbroken (insert sarcasm) but said that would be fine.  We did play some games, Redbox a movie, and have ice cream sundaes with the boys.  It was just what the doctor ordered.

Vance's Birthday

The first of Vance's birthday celebrations was our new birthday tradition - dinner with Mom and Dad.  I love that Vance craves most of the same food as Chad and me.  We were thrilled when he decided on sushi.

He opted to open his presents the weekend before his birthday since his birthday happened to fall on our busiest day of the week.  He mentioned he wanted a PS4.  That's more than we usually spend on a birthday gift so we didn't have a big party.  I planned to have Mason (his cousin) over when we opened presents.  He was thrilled to open his PS4 since he wasn't sure we were getting it and even more thrilled that Mason was spending the night. 

 Those two played for hours and hours but birthdays are for overindulging right?! They took a quick break for rootbeer floats and stayed up until 4:30 in the morning!

On his actual birthday we decorated the kitchen and made him hot breakfast.  I pretty much never cook a hot breakfast during the week so he was excited.

 Keller gave Vance a coupon to make his bed (a chore Vance loathes) and he immediately cashed it in that morning.

Since a way to a boy's heart is clearly through his stomach I also delivered lunch to him at school and let him pick out dinner.

Vance went to a hockey game the day before his birthday with Chad.  The Dallas Stars one and he had a fun night with Dad.
